Sean was the first Kerryman to be elected President of the GAA (2003-2006). He also served as Chairman of the East Kerry (1975–87) and Kerry County Boards (1987–97) and Munster Council (1997–2000).

Teddy is the only man in history to win a Senior All Ireland Football and Hurling medal in the same year (Cork 1990).
