Jimmy Deenihan
Jimmy Deenihan
Recorded: 2002
Length: 42mins

Now a T.D. in Dail Eireann, Jimmy captained his county to an All-Ireland Victory in 1981, as Kerry won the 4-in-a-row. A superb defender, he was a special Terrace Talk guest in August 2002 where he recounted vividly the day he won the Sam Maguire cup. This is yet another historic Terrace Talk.

At the age of 29, Jimmy achieved something that was done only twice before in the realms of Gaelic football - He captained a county team to the elusive sequence of four All-Irelands in a row.

The dynamic Finugue man accomplished this singular honour when he successfully led Kerry to their historic win over Offally in the final. In this unique interview, Jimmy Deenihan describes it "as a great feeling of fulfillment." He talks about Kerry defeats, victories and the various injuries which, he feels, prevented him from reaching his full potential.

Jimmy Deenihan has a wonderful list of successes to prove what a brilliant player he was. Five Senior All-Irelands (1975-78-79-80-81), one under-21 win (1975), three national leagues (1973-74-77), four Railway Cups and two county championship medals with Feale Rangers (1978-80).

Another Terrace Talk recording - Another Kerry Legend!
