Paddy Casey one of seven brothers from Sneem Co. Kerry in his very last interview before his death in February 2002 tells the amazing story of their sporting like. One of his brother's Steve Casey was the only Irishman ever to remain undefeated as a world champion wrestler. This is surely the most amazing and wonderful Irish sporting story of all time. I as terrace talk presenter was privileged beyond words to have it for posterity.
The Casey brothers were born among the heather and rocks of wild remote Kerry in Ireland. In a little white cottage their parents Michael and Bridget reared Paddy, Jack, Jim, Mick, Tom, Margaret, Dan, Jose, and Kitty. The fighting Casey's the toughest family on earth.
It was said by those who knew that the Casey's were a terrifying and remarkable family and in physique there is no doubt that they were unequalled by any other family in Ireland or Great Britain.
The seven boys weighed just a three-quarter of a ton. They were unbeaten in rowing all over the world and would have won at least four gold medals in the 1936 Olympics except that they were barred from taking part by the British council of rowing because Steve had wrestled for money, he went onto win the world wrestling title.
