Jimmy has been six times Embassy World Championship runner-up and it is safe to say that noone has experienced more heartbreak than he. Known as "The Whirlwind", Jimmy has been involved in some epic world finals, most notably when he lost 16-15 to Alex Higgins in the 1982 semi-finals, and in 1988 when he beat Stephen Hendry in the second round.

It was heartbreak for Jimmy in the 1984 world final when White failed to pot the black for the last frame, and lost to Hendry 18-17. Steve Davis and John Parrott also beat Jimmy in the finals. He has won 22 major titles, 9 of them ranking tournaments. Says Weeshie, "How fortunate I was to interview this great personality when he visited my home town of Killarney, Co. Kerry."
