"For Fortitude in the Face of Grave Illness"
That is the quote given to Pat O'Connell who received a People of the year award in 1984 having raised over £500,000 for cancer research. A wonderfully uplifting as this remarkable Killarney man tells his moving story, losing his 28 year old sister Marie to cancer in 1981, being diagnosed himself with cancer in 1977, the tragic death of his brother Sean in a building accident in New York, running in 22 marathons all over the world to raise money for aid cancer treatment in Kerry and Cork.

His first liver transplant which eventually failed, he then endured the trauma of a second liver transplant which saved his life. Pat has run over 50,000 miles, equivalent to running twice around the world - "I ran for my life and someone else's". Pat tells Weeshie in this most unique and touching interviews. Surely one of the most amazing life stories one could be privileged to listen to.

Pat O'Connell - one of the few people in the world to survive two liver transplants and Terrace Talk is honored to bring to you his wonderful story.
