Recorded: 2006
Length: 1hr 25mins

A former PRO for the GAA in Kerry, Mr O'Sullivan was a bachelor who lived with his brother, John, over the post office in the heart of Kilgarvan village.

A Terrace Talk special on the legendary Denis P O Sullivan from Kilgarvan. Denis P's weekly notes in The Kerryman brought cheer to the homesick hearts and lessened the lonileness of generations of ex-pats and made them feel a little bit included in the happenings of home. Denis Ps notes first appeared in the Kerryman in September 1974, before that he contributed through the Kenmare notes.

Denis was Secretary of Kilgarvan GAA from 1941 until 1986. He also held the position of PRO of the Kerry County Board during the height of Kerry's golden years in the 1980s. An avid hurler, he was a member of the team that won the Kerry Senior Hurling Championship in 1953, 1956 and 1958 and was later a selector for the Kilgarvan club up until 1986. Denis acted as Secretary of the Kilgarvan Sports Committee and was President of the Athletics Association at county level.

He was an honest, gentle, kind and good man whose two great passions were the GAA and athletics.
