On The Ball

Eamonn Fitzgerald is the Sports Editor with The Killarney Advertiser and has written the weekly On the Ball column since 1973.

Eamonn played in goal with Kerry from 1971 to 1973, winning 2 National League medals, but lost out to Offaly in the 1972 All Ireland final replay. Played with Dr Crokes senior team from 1961 to 1986 winning several titles, with East Kerry winning Kerry County Championships in 1965 (Minor) and senior in 1968, 1969 (Captain) and in 1970. Eamonn won two Munster Clubs and the inaugural All Ireland club title in 1971. He also played in Dublin with Erin's Hope (Teacher training college) and with UCD winning a Dublin county league medal in 1972. He has a lifelong involvement with Dr Crokes, his home club. He edited the club histories - Dr Crokes Gaelic Century 1886-1986 and Decade of Glory 1986-1996.
